THE COW JUMPS OVER THE MOON
(2009. In collaboration with Caitlin Berrigan.)
Commissioned by the Key of Life Festival (Leiden, The Netherlands) to create a dining experience that engaged with the Festival's themes of space travel and genetics, we designed an edible encounter with the intertwined narratives of industrial agriculture, inner, and outer, space. As a gesture to the millions of pieces of human trash that are now floating in space, all the waste and utensils from the dinner were discarded into the Milky Way - a massive spread of powdered cow's milk that formed the centrepiece of the dining space.
